Virtual Communication in the 21st Century

language connectED just launched our third offering of Building Language Skills and Strategies for Successful Communication in the 21st Century at the University of Pennsylvania Biomedical Postdoctoral Programs. Postdocs, scholars, and researchers join for an intensive series of workshops to improve their communication skills when using email, conference calling, or virtual presentations and meetings. Rachel Chaffin, Rebecca Toner, and Mallory Fix Lopez will be assisting this international, dynamic group in discussions, recorded simulations, and tailored feedback in order to address participants' specific needs. Our learners consistently report back that these workshops improve their confidence when engaging with these platforms, that the strategies they practice and then use lead to successful collaborations, interviews, and overall communication. In addition, this work connects to Part III-Communication of the Core Competencies as outlined by the National Postdoctoral Association. In all our work, our researchers engage in meaningful, active, behavior-outcome based training to take their careers and their science to the world.
